In August, we visited the ReDi School of digital integration, a partner organization in Copenhagen that focuses on IT education for migrant women. It is a non-profit organisation, a school that provides free and fair access to digital education. It offers its female students courses in coding and basic computer skills combined with a unique career and mentorship program that includes opportunities to work with tech companies, startups and digital industry leaders.
Different approaches, same goal
During our meeting with ReDi School, we had the opportunity to learn in detail about their activities and methodologies for working with the target group of adult women. During the discussion we exchanged experiences, comparing the differences in the approach to working with migrant women and with the native population.
While local women are familiar with the labour market and its specifics, for example, they know how to apply for a job, how to write a CV, a cover letter or what salary to expect for their work, for someone from an external environment, it is new. Instead of deepening their knowledge, it is necessary to orient them to the country’s labour market.
Connecting women with companies in IT
We also discussed the importance of mentoring programmes and how they can be developed, particularly in terms of connecting women with companies in the IT sector. We learned about their successful examples of collaboration and exchanged experiences on how to further develop these relationships. We also discussed possible forms of future collaboration between our organizations, including the potential for joint projects.
European funds as an opportunity to develop initiatives
We also focused on funding opportunities from European funds that support initiatives to empower women in the world of technology and digital education.
Overall, the meeting in Denmark was very inspiring and useful for the further development of our activities in the field of adult education for women, as well as for making new contacts and networking.
